The Taylor women’s golf team competed in the University of Saint Francis invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

Freshman Elaina Mellott registered the two lowest rounds of her young career, firing 90-89 to finish in a tie for 11th place out of 32 competitors.

After catching some bad breaks on day one, sophomore Meagan Devries bounced back to shoot 109 after an opening round 118. Freshman Erin Erickson rounded out the Taylor scoring with a 115-122.

This fall is the first season for the Taylor women’s golf team.

“I’m very proud of the way all three of these ladies competed this fall,” Taylor coach Cameron Andry said. “It was great to see Elaina break through the 90 barrier and I saw major improvement from each lady this fall. I’m excited for the future of our program.”

Taylor will continue competition in the spring when the Trojans play the main portion of the season which concludes with the first-ever Crossroads League women’s golf tournament.
