KOKOMO, Ind.- The Taylor women’s golf team posted its first-ever official team score this afternoon in a dual meet with Indiana Wesleyan at Wildcat Creek Golf Course in Kokomo, Ind.

The Wildcats claimed the team title but the Trojans saw several solid performances in difficult conditions, led by a score of 98 by freshman Elaina Mellott.

With cold temperatures and a biting wind making playing conditions difficult sophomore Meagan Devries fired a career-low round of 102 while Jenna Fahlen shot 101 in her first-ever round for the Trojans.

Hope Knowling (120) and Erin Erickson (124) rounded out the scores for Taylor as the Trojans shot a team score of 421 compared to Indiana Wesleyan’s 373.

“I’m really pleased with the effort put forth by the team today,” Taylor coach Julie Flores, who took over as the head women’s coach in February, said. “The conditions were not easy to play in but the girls had good attitudes. I see a promising season as we continue to work hard.”

Next up for Taylor is a trip to Florida during spring break before Taylor competes in the Saint Francis spring tournament on April 5-6.
