FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Freshman Elaina Mellott shot a team-best 90 to pace the Taylor women’s golf team on day one of the Saint Francis Invitational. Senior Jenna Fahlen added a 100, Meagan Devries carded a 102 while Hope Knowling added a 105 and Erin Erickson added a 116 for Taylor, which fired a team score of 397.

“I’m really proud and pleased with the ladies’ effort today,” Taylor coach Julie Flores said. “Every player improved their score from our first tournament against Indiana Wesleyan and each one is determined to improve even more tomorrow.”

Taylor, currently in 9th place, fielded a full team for just the second tournament this spring. A first year program, the Trojans will look to improve upon their scores in round two tomorrow.
