SOUTH BEND, Ind. –
Three of the four Taylor women’s golfers lowered their score from day one during the final round of the Bethel Pilot Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club on Saturday.
Hope Knowling made the largest jump as the senior shaved 13 shots off her first round score to fire a career-low 99 while Jenna Fahlen’s round of 96 also marked a career low. Freshman Elaina Mellott continued her strong play, following her first round 94 with an 89 on Saturday to claim a Top-20 individual finish while fellow freshman Erin Erickson rounded out the Taylor scoring with a 117.
“It was great to see improvement today,” Taylor coach Julie Flores said. “Jenna, Hope, and Elaina all played much better and if we continue to minimize our big holes we’ll see those scores continue to improve.”
The hosts from Bethel claimed the tournament title while Taylor finished in 7th
in the 7-team field.
Next up for Taylor is the Ohio Northern Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
Elaina Mellott 94-89
