LONDON, Ky. - The Taylor women's golf team began its spring season in challenging conditions on Monday as the Trojans competed in the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Ky.
The Trojans struggled amid frigid windy conditions that yielded just one score in the 70's in the entire 44-player field. Sophomore Elaina Mellott paced the Trojans with a score of 103, bouncing back from a 58 on the front nine to post a score of 47 on the inward nine. Mellott carded three pars and six bogies on the day and played the final three holes in one over.
Freshman Brittany Pfaff got off to a difficult start but played holes six thru 16 in 13 over par. Pfaff carded a 106 in the round but shaved ten shots off her front nine score going 58-48. Junior Marisa Williamson struggled to score of 142 to round out the Trojan scoring.
The Trojans will play the final round of the SEKI Invitational tomorrow with round two slated to begin at 8:30 am. Live scoring can be found at golfstat.com.
