MARION, Ind. - Brittany Pfaff led the Taylor women's golf team on day one of the Taylor Spring Invitational at Meshingomesia County Club on Friday. The freshman carded an opening round 90 and sits in a tie for sixth place in the 29-player field.
Fellow freshman Libby Hansen added a 95 for Taylor while sophomore Elaina Mellott shot a 99 to round out Taylor's scoring. The Trojans did not card a team score because junior Marisa Williamson was forced to withdraw due to illness.
Bethel leads the 5-team field after firing an opening round 331. The Pilots' Geandra Almeida was the only player to shoot in the 70's, carding a 5-over par round of 77 to lead the field. Indiana Wesleyan is in second place after a 362, Holy Cross (385) is third, and Spring Arbor (397) is in fourth after the first round.
The Taylor Spring Invitational is set to conclude on Saturday with a final round scheduled for a 1pm shotgun start.
