Capital One Academic All-District Cross Country and Track Team
UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor University's Ethan Evans and Scott King have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II First-Team for cross country and track and field, as voted on and announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.

The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field, court or track of competition. In order to be eligible for the honor an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically with one full year at the current institution of enrollment and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.

Evans was selected as a First-Team Academic All-District performer with a 3.40 grade-point average in elementary education. The Muncie, Indiana native earned All-Crossroads League recognition in cross country and track and field and qualified for NAIA Nationals in each sport during the 2013-2014 campaign. The junior highlighted his year by setting a new Taylor record in the 10,000-meter run and claimed the Crossroads League Championship in that event.

King joined Evans as a First-Team Academic All-District selection with a 3.73 grade-point average in computer science systems. The Minooka, Illinois native also earned All-Crossroads League honors in cross country as well as in track and field, was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in both and earned Academic All-Crossroads League status.

Evans the King push Taylor's tally of Academic All-District honors to 21 for the 2013-2014 year. The duo will now be placed on the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which is scheduled to be announced on June 23.
