SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Taylor women's golf day opened play at the Battle at Blackthorn with a first round team score of 363 to finish round one in seventh place.
Freshman Grace Elenbaas paced the Trojans with an opening-round 88 while sophomore Brittany Pfaff added a 92, freshman Courtney Feagans added a 93, and sophomore Libby Hansen carded a 95 for the Trojans. Senior Lauren Anderson added a round of 109 in her first collegiate tournament.
Madonna fired a blistering opening round score of 314 to claim the lead after day one while Olivet Nazarene (326) and Bethel (330) round out the top three in the team standings after the first round.
Madonna's Chelsea Collura blitzed the course for a 1-under round of 71 en route to a four-shot lead heading into the final round in individual medal play. Elenbaas's 88 was good enough for a tie for 23rd heading into Saturday's final round.
The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 am.
