LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna Crusaders scored a goal in the first minute of overtime to outlast Taylor women's soccer Wednesday.
Katlyn Krysiak took a through pass from Jessica Witt and carried forward, eventually placing a shot past Taylor goalkeeper Kristiana Daniels to stun the Trojans early in the first period of extra-time.
Taylor was able to outshoot Madonna with ten shots, doubling the Crusader's total of five. With each attempt the Trojans were able to put on frame, Madonna goalkeeper Blaire Schmalenberg had a response, as Schmalenberg had five saves to post the shutout.
Daniels made one save in the loss for the Trojans, while Amanda Roden led the team with four shots. Midfielder Courtney Selle also registered three shots.
Four of the seven Taylor contests this season have gone into extra-time, with two ending in draws and the other two resulting in defeat for the Trojans.
Taylor (3-2-2, 0-0 CL) will return home for a contest with Trinity Christian this Saturday at 4:00 pm. It will be another stiff test, as Trinity Christian is receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 poll.
