UPLAND, Ind. - The Taylor University cross country teams will host the First-Annual Ray Bullock Invitational at the new TU Cross Country Course on Friday, September 5.

The nine-team meet will begin with the women's 5,000-meter race at 6:00 pm, with the men's 8,000-meter race following at approximately 6:45 pm. Free parking will be available in marked areas, with $5 parking and free handicapped parking available near the start and finish line.

The meet will mark the start of the 2014 seasons for Taylor's nationally ranked men's and women's cross country programs, as the Trojans enter the race ranked No. 7 in the NAIA on the women's side and No. 23 in the NAIA on the men's side. The Trojans will be joined in the field by a mix of NAIA and NCAA Division III opponents, consisting of Anderson, Bethel, Indiana Tech, Marian, Ohio Northern, Saint Francis, Siena Heights and Trine .

The race is named in honor of former TU coach, Ray Bullock, who passed away in May of 2014. Bullock started the women's cross country program at Taylor and went on to lead the Trojans to a 679-309 record from 1984 through 1998. During that span, Bullock's teams picked up four NAIA District 22 titles, two Mid-Central Conference championships and made six trips to the NAIA National Championships.
