UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor men's tennis will begin postseason play Tuesday, as the Trojans travel to Grace to meet the Lancers in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinal. The match will begin at 4:00 pm at Winona Lake.
Taylor, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, will be looking to turn the tables on the No. 3 seed Grace from their previous matchup. The Lancers defeated Taylor on its home courts by the score of 7-2 on September 4.
In that match Jonathan Forte won at No. 5 singles for Taylor in a ten-point tiebreaker for the third set, while Alex Jung and Jacob Scott won at the No. 3 doubles position. Doubles play was very competitive, while Grace took five of six in singles play to seal the deal.
Taylor (3-9, 2-6 CL) has won two out of its last three contests, with wins over Bethel (7-2) and Davenport (5-4). Grace (6-2, 6-2 CL) finished up Crossroads League regular season play with two straight wins over Bethel and Goshen.
If the Trojans are able to pull off the upset and defeat Grace Tuesday, Taylor will play the winner of the No. 2 seed Indiana Wesleyan and the No. 7 seed Spring Arbor. A Taylor loss will mark the conclusion of the 2014 fall season.
