ADA, Mich. – A trio of freshmen paced the Taylor men's golf team in the final round of the Arnie's Intercollegiate Invitational on Tuesday.

Mitch Lamping and Nick Waskom turned in rounds of 75 to lead the Trojans while fellow freshman Trey Turner, playing as an individual, carded a round of 74. Turner's two-day total of 151 was just two shots back from the individual medalist and was good enough for a tie for fourth place.

The Trojans carded a team score of 309 in the final round as junior Stefan Fahlen added a 79, sophomore Jordan Hall carded an 80, and senior Nate Scheibe was the TU drop score with an 84.

With a two-day total of 623 the Trojans finished the event in third place. Grand Rapids Community College was the only team to fire a better final round score with a 300 and claimed the team title with a two-day total of 605 while Bethel finished second at 607.

"We played a little better today," Taylor coach Cameron Andry said. "I was encouraged by the play of some of our young guys and I think there are some positives to build on moving forward."

Joining Trey Turner with a solid tournament as an individual was sophomore Seth Neal who carded rounds of 79 and 76 to finish in a tie for tenth place. Senior Grant Hall added rounds of 79 and 81 and fellow senior Tucker Fahlen added rounds of 89 and 81 also playing as individuals.

Bethel's Brian Ulrich claimed individual medalist honors with a two-day total of 149, followed by Drew Pennington and Zach Bialik from Grand Rapids Community College at 150.

The Trojans are back in action on Saturday when TU travels to Mount Vernon Nazarene for the MVNU Classic at Chapel Hill Golf Course.
