MARION, Ind. – The Taylor 4x800 relay team punched its ticket to the NAIA Indoor National Championships in March with an automatic qualifying time at the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcat Invitational on Saturday.


The Taylor relay team of Elaine Schmeltz, Jenna Norris, Anna Meyer, and Sarina Oleson managed a race time of 9:37.62 en route to a third place finish and easily hit the NAIA 'A' standard.


Meyer also provisionally qualified for Indoor Nationals in the 3000 meter, hitting the NAIA 'B' standard with a time of 10:31.56.


Other notable performances for the Trojans included senior Allison Steinbeck's 3rd place finish in the 5000 meter with a time of 18:35.33. TU's Anissa Richards finished 5th in the same race (18:49.11) and Hannah Schroder added a 7th place finish (19:12.53).


Schmeltz added a 4th place finish in the mile with a time of 5:22.10 while Jane Hawks finished 7th at 5:25.69.


Oleson and Norris finished in 7th and 8th in 800 meter with times of 2:28.29 and 2:28.53, respectively while Courtney Thompson was the top sprinter for the Trojans with a 9th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.00.


The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday when Taylor travels to the Anderson Invitational at Anderson University.
