HARTFORD CITY, Ind. – Freshman Alex Berends of Taylor women's track and field took home the league's weekly honor, continuing her stellar first-year campaign with a great day at the Indiana Little State meet on Saturday.

Berends' performance was highlighted by her victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an NAIA 'A' standard time of 10:57.32. Berends then followed that performance up with a second place finish in the 1500-meter run with another NAIA 'A' Standard time of 4:39.98, helping the Trojans to a third place finish in the meet.

The Crossroads League weekly honor is the second for Berends during the outdoor track and field season, amongst many other accolades during the 2014-2015 school year.

Taylor will return to action on Saturday, April 18 at home in the Taylor Invitational, which will begin at 12:00 pm.
