GOSHEN, Ind. – The Taylor women's track and field team enjoyed a solid day during the opening day of competition in the Crossroads League Championships on Friday.
Taylor's 4x800 relay team of Jane Hawks, Sarina Oleson, Jenna Norris, and Shelby Wilson had the highlight of the afternoon as the quartet established a new school-record en route to a dominating victory with a time of 9:21.15. The impressive time was also a new track record at the Elgasti Track and Field Complex.
TU was also impressive in the 10,000-meter run as the Trojans took three of the top four spots. Hannah Schroder paced the TU triple-threat with a time of 38:13.76 en route to a second place finish. Anissa Richards finished third (39:01.79) and Allison Steinbeck (39:15.11) finished fourth.
Tori Gaesser was the only TU field event athlete to score point for the Trojans as the freshman finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters.
Indiana Wesleyan holds the lead with 64 points after the first day of competition. Bethel is second with 63 points while the Trojans round out the top three with 34 points.
The remainder of the championships will be completed on Saturday with action set to begin at 2:00 pm at the Elgasti Track and Field Complex on the Goshen College complex.
