HARTFORD CITY, Ind. – Senior Elaine Schmeltz has been named the Crossroads League women's track athlete of the week, the league office announced Monday.

Schmeltz collected two victories for the Trojans on the final day of the Crossroads League Championships last weekend. The senior from Laville, Ind., won the Crossroads League steeplechase title for the fourth consecutive year and added another victory in the 5,000-meter, narrowly edging out teammate Alex Berends.

Schmeltz steeplechase winning time of 11:28.49 hit the NAIA 'B' standard and the pair of victories helped Taylor to a third place finish in the championships as a team.

This is the second weekly honor for Schmeltz this season as the senior earned Crossroads League track athlete of the week during the indoor track and field season on February 7.
