UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University and head coach Kelly Packard have announced the hiring of Becca Bornhorst as an assistant coach for the TU women's basketball program.

"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Becca Bornhorst to the Taylor University women's basketball coaching staff," stated Packard. "Becca's desire to intentionally mentor and influence young women through the platform of athletics made her a great choice for our program."

"Becca brings great knowledge of the game from her experience as a student-athlete at Butler University, as well as her unique exposure to the game by growing up as the daughter of a basketball coach," added Packard. "I could not be more excited about her hire and her choice to join the community of Taylor University."

Bornhorst comes to Taylor after graduating from Butler in 2013 with a degree in journalism and electronic media. During her time at BU, Bornhorst was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs on the hardwood, serving as a captain and receiving the Bulldog Award.

"I am very thankful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the women's basketball program at Taylor," said Bornhorst. "I feel blessed to be working for Coach Packard, who has proven herself as not only a great basketball coach but as a tremendous leader and woman of Christ. After just a short time on campus, I can already tell that this is a special place and I am looking forward to helping our girls develop spiritually, academically and athletically."

Prior to joining the staff at TU, Bornhorst spent two years as a Public Relations and Marketing Associate for GRand Solutions. Bornhorst also gained professional experience during her time as a student-athlete by interning with the Butler Sports Information Department and the Indiana Fever Media Relations Department.

Bornhorst will serve as the top assistant for Coach Packard, replacing Lindsay Shade, who accepted the head coaching position at Anderson University after two years on staff at TU.
