UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women's tennis team is eager to open its fall season Saturday, August 29 at the Marian University Doubles Tournament.

Last year the Trojans finished fourth in the Crossroads League with an overall record of 9-11.

Six freshmen (Grace Todd, Mikayla Shultz, Corinne Hoffman, Taelor Grose, Courtney Clark and Emma Wagoner) will add depth to Taylor's 2015-16 roster.

"We have an extremely young team," Taylor head coach Jini Morgan said. "But I have amazing freshmen and I'm excited about how they are fitting in right now. I have two returners who are seniors that are up top to carry us and a lot of new blood."

Seniors Lindy Hart and Rachel Kammer will be joined on the court by seven sophomore and junior returners.

"My freshmen from last year really worked in the off-season," Coach Morgan said. "They've all improved so it's making my job difficult because I have a lot of good talent right now. Hopefully it will give us a chance to move back up in the league."

The Trojans' goal is to finish third in conference this year, one spot higher than last season, according to Coach Morgan.

Doubles play begins at 10 a.m. (ET) Saturday, August 29 at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
