INDIANAPOLIS - The Taylor women's tennis team hit the courts for the first time this season, competing in the Marian University Doubles Tournament.
The tournament featured players from Marian University, Grace College, University of Saint Francis, Huntington University and Roosevelt University. There were four different flights of competition (A, B, C, and D).
Taylor's most success came from Flight C. Freshman Corinne Hoffman and freshman Mikayla Schultz took home first place in the flight, while freshman Courtney Clark and sophomore Annika Zeilstra finished second. Hoffman and Schultz defeated Clark and Zeilstra 8-2 in the final match.
Senior Lindy Hart and freshman Grace Todd also finished second in their respective flight (Flight D). Junior Ashlen Nisley and junior Ashley Cook placed third in Flight D, and sophomores Sydney Wagoner and Elly Ericson won the Flight D consolation bracket.
"All the freshmen showed well for their first college tournament experience," Taylor head coach Jini Morgan said. "Every team member played and they all had at least one win. It was a good day for TU."
The Trojans will host conference foe Marian University at 10 a.m. (ET) on September 5.
