SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team continued its solid play on the final day of the Battle at Blackthorn with team score of 340 to claim fifth place in the 14-team field.
Junior Libby Hansen led the Trojans on Saturday with a round of 83 followed by freshman Elizabeth Jackson's 84. Freshman Raquel Helton followed up Friday's round of 81 with an 86 while junior Brittany Pfaff added an 87. Sophomore Courtney Feagans shot 90 as Taylor's drop score.
Helton finished with a two-day total of 167 to notch an 11th place finish in the 69-player field. Jackson carded a 169 (85-84) to finish in a tie for 13th.
The Trojans entered the day in fifth place and made up ground on Olivet Nazarene who carded a 342 but the Trojans finished three shots behind ONU. Bethel, the hosts of the event, claimed the team title with a two-day total of 634 while the Pilots' Katie Holdren took individual medalist honors with a two-round total of 151 (74-77).
The Trojans will return to action later in September when TU travels to Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan for the Madonna Crusader Invitational on September 24-25.
