FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Cool temperatures and gusty winds greeted the Taylor women's golf team at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Fort Wayne on Friday during the first round of the Saint Francis Invitational.
The Trojans battled the harsh conditions en route to a team score of 354. Freshman Elizabeth Jackson paced Taylor on day one with a round of 85. Juniors Brittany Pfaff and Libby Hansen added rounds of 87 and 89, respectively while freshman Raquel Helton chipped in a 93 to round out the scoring for Taylor. Sophomore Courtney Feagans was TU's drop score for the day with a 98.
The University of Northern Ohio leads the tournament after day one with a score of 333, Olivet Nazarene is close behind at 337 followed by No. 22 Bethel at 339. The Trojans trail the hosts from Saint Francis by one shot and lead Crossroads League foe Mount Vernon Nazarene (404).
The final round of the Saint Francis Invitational will take place on Saturday at Autumn Ridge Golf Course in Fort Wayne.
