WALESKA, Ga. – The Taylor University softball team suffered an 11-7 loss to RV Reinhardt and a 9-4 defeat to Georgetown on Saturday, as the offense could not dig out of a pair of early deficits.
Reinhardt (4-0) jumped on the Trojans for eight runs in the second inning and tacked on insurance scores in the final three frames for the 11-7 victory in Saturday's opener.
Alex Lovelace had another big game at the plate, homering for the second time in two days to open the season and ending with two hits, two runs and three runs batted in. Morgan Allison also homered and collected two hits, while Ary DiBernardo scored twice and Lauren Ehle added a double.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Georgetown (2-2) putting eight runs on the board before the end of the third inning and handing TU a 9-4 loss.
Ehle drove home two runs in the loss, with Anna Gunderson and Hannah Robbins combining for four of TU's seven hits in the contest. Robbins also tossed three shutout frames of relief in the circle.
Taylor (1-3) will have two weeks off, before heading to Lebanon, Tennessee for four games on February 26 and 27. TU will take on Cumberland on February 26, before playing Martin Methodist on February 27.
