TAMPA – The Taylor women's track and field team opened its outdoor season on Thursday and Friday at the University of South Florida Invitational.
The meet featured stiff competition with several NCAA Division I teams in the field.
Senior Haley White had an impressive performance in the javelin, finishing sixth with a personal-best mark of 38.56 meters.
Taryn Seeland also enjoyed a successful meet as she raced to a fifth place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:54.96.
Julianne Exner recorded a leap of 4.38 meters in the long jump while fellow freshman Miriam Wood was close behind at 4.26 meters. Exner also competed in the triple jump finishing 13th at 10.53 meters and Wood added a mark of 10.02 meters in the same event.
Brianna Jordahl logged the seventh best throw in TU history in the discus with a mark of 35.47 meters and moved into tenth place in the TU record books in the hammer throw with a mark of 35.56 meters. Freshman Megan Bean also carved out a spot in the record books with the ninth best throw in the hammer with a mark of 35.76 meters.
Freshman Marjorie Crosby clocked the best time for TU in the 800-meter run with a mark of 2:22.20 while fellow freshman Anna Souzis was close behind with a time of 2:24.95.
Freshman Rachel Blagg recorded a new personal-best time in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:47.72 to move into seventh on the TU all-time list for the event. Fellow freshman Michelle Franch finished 11th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:25.10.
The Trojans will train for the next week near Tampa before returning to action at the Transylvania Invitational in Lexington, Ky., on April 26th.
