LOUDON, Tenn. – Freshman Elizabeth Jackson led the Taylor women's golf team on day one of the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational at Tennessee National Golf Club on Monday.
Jackson carded an 87 in the opening round of competition on the challenging 5,854-yard, par-72 layout in Loudon, Tennessee. Junior Brittany Pfaff carded a 93 while sophomore Grace Elenbaas and junior Libby Edwards each finished with 98. Freshman Raquel Helton was the TU drop score with a 99 as the Trojans finished with a team total of 376.
Taylor is one shot clear of Reinhardt and Union (Ky.) and just five shots behind Midway heading into Tuesday's final round.
Sixth-ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) carded a score of 318 to take the lead after day one while William Carey is next at 326.
Tuesday's final round will begin at 9:00 am with a shotgun start.
