COLUMBIA, Ky. – Taylor hitters Becca Gerig and Kelly Arnold combined for 61 kills on Saturday to lead the Trojans to a pair of victories on the final day of the Lindsey Wilson tournament.

Gerig provided the spark for the Trojans in TU's first contest of the afternoon as the junior from Archbold, Ohio collected a career-high 21 kills to power Taylor to a 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 25-12) victory over Asbury. Gerig was dominant at the net, committing just four hitting errors in 44 attempts and helping Taylor to a season-best .265 attack percentage in the win.

The Trojans (3-1) also got strong play from Arnold who finished with 15 kills while sophomore Haley Harrell dished out a team-high 34 assists for TU. Harrell and senior Alex Reel each collected 17 digs while Gerig collected 15 digs for her first double-double of the season.

The Trojans continued to roll in their fourth and final match of the weekend, dismissing Brescia in straight sets (25-14, 25-23, 25-17) to finish the opening weekend of the season with three victories and just one defeat.

TU's duo of Gerig and Arnold maintained their high level of play at the net with Arnold again notching 15 terminations while Gerig finished with ten.
