MARION, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team posted a school record score of 330 on the final day of the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational at Arbor Trace Golf Course on Saturday.
Freshman Maddie Thomas carded her first collegiate round in the 70's with a final round 79 and classmate Annie Stimmel added an 80 to lead the Trojans on Saturday. Sophomore Raquel Helton added an 83 and the Trojans also counted an 88 from senior Brittany Pfaff while junior Grace Elenbaas shot 89. TU broke the previous school record and 336 that the Trojans tied during Friday's first round.
With a two-round total of 666 (336-330) the Trojans claimed third place in the 8-team field behind the hosts from Indiana Wesleyan (633) and #RV Olivet Nazarene (657). Taylor finished ahead of Crossroads League foes Grace (683), Huntington (695), and Mount Vernon Nazarene (709).
Stimmel finished with a two-round total of 160 (80-80) to earn a tie for fifth place and a spot on the all-tournament team while Thomas finished at 161 (82-79) to claim a tie for seventh place. Elizabeth Jackson shot 168 (83-85) to finish in a tie for 15th, playing as an individual, and Helton finished at 170 (87-83) to also claim a top-20 finish with a tie for 19th.
The Trojans will now have a week off before travelling to Eagle Eye Golf Club in Lansing, Michigan for the Spring Arbor Fall Classic on Monday. September 19.
