FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Taylor women's soccer team set a program record for wins to start a season with its fifth-straight win on Friday night, defeating Indiana Tech (1-3-2) by a tally of 3-1.

 

Nikki Zaino opened the scoring for the visiting Trojans, netting a cross from Bailey Zehr in the 15th minute. The goal was Zaino's team-leading third score of the season.

 

TU took a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute when Megan Kammer knocked the game-winner into the back of the net.

 

Indiana Tech scored its lone goal of the game in the 64th minute. It was the first goal surrendered by Taylor goalkeeper Lauren Engelkes in 2016.

 

The Trojans capped the scoring with Rebekah Schwulst's goal in the 90th minute.

 

Taylor was in attack mode all night long, tallying 21 shots compared to the Warriors' five throughout the contest.

 

TU (5-0) will look to extend its program-record start when it takes on Lourdes (2-1) at 4:00 pm on Tuesday inside Turner Stadium.
