CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The TU women's soccer team extended its school-record start to the season (7-0) with a 1-0 road victory over No. 14 Campbellsville on Saturday. The win is the first over a top-15 team in head coach Scott Stan's nine-year tenure at Taylor.
The Trojans dominated the Tigers (7-2) in all facets, outshooting CU 14-3 for the match and holding the hosts without a single shot on goal or corner kick for the entire 90 minutes. The last time Campbellsville was held without a shot on goal for an entire game was on September 11, 2012.
Megan Kammer, the team's leading scorer a year ago, scored the game-winner on a free kick from 25 yards out with less than 11 minutes remaining in the contest to secure the victory for the Trojans.
"We had a great team effort tonight, along with a laser direct kick from Megan to beat an amazing team," said Stan. "I'm so proud of their effort and commitment to work together."
Lauren Cammarano recorded a shutout in the net in the first complete game of her collegiate career.
Taylor will face another ranked opponent in its next outing, Saturday, September 24, when it travels to Winona Lake, Indiana to open the conference season against No. 11 Grace (1-3-1) at 7:00 pm.
