HANOVER, Ind.– The Taylor women's tennis team traveled to southern Indiana on Thursday, sweeping non-conference opponent Hanover College 9-0. The road win improved the Trojans' overall record to 7-3.
After falling in the first set at four of six singles courts, Taelor Grose, Mikayla Schultz, Corinne Hoffman and Ashlen Nisley all showed resilience, fighting back to win all four courts in third set tiebreakers.
In doubles action, sophomore classmates Grose and Fletchall defeated the Panthers' Meghan Farrell and Tori Schwartz, 8-3, at the No. 1 spot. Schultz and Kling paired for a tight win at No. 2 doubles, while TU's duo of junior Betsy Jones and sophomore Courtney Clark rounded out the sweep.
"No coach could ask for more than we got from our girls tonight," Taylor head coach Jini Morgan said. "After taking three points in very closely contested doubles matches and dropping our first set at four of our singles courts, our girls put their head down, went to work to win their second set and the following tiebreaker."
Taylor will next host a doubleheader on Saturday, September 24. The Trojans will play Crossroads League foe Goshen College at 11 am, followed by a non-conference match against Davenport University at 3:30 pm.
