INDIANAPOLIS – Taylor goalkeeper Lauren Engelkes has been named Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Engelkes recorded her third shutout of the season in a 1-0 road victory over Grace, grabbing five saves in the process. The sophomore has played 495 minutes in the net this season and only surrendered one goal, resulting in a Goals Against Average of 0.18, which ranks fourth in the NAIA. Engelkes highlights a stellar TU defense, which has shut out six of its eight opponents thus far, good for fifth in the NAIA in total shutouts.

The weekly honor is the second for Engelkes this season and the third of her career.

Engelkes and the 20th ranked Trojans will be back in action at Turner Stadium on Tuesday at 4:00 pm to host Mount Vernon Nazarene.
