UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor men's tennis team fell 5-4 in its final regular season Crossroads League match against crosstown rival Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday at Meier Tennis Courts.

Senior Juan Ramirez, who received weekly honors earlier on Tuesday from the league office, continued his consistent play with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Freshman Salvador Lo Cascio collected TU's third team point at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over the Wildcats' Jacob Rankin.

"This was a disappointing loss after last week's three wins and close matches," Taylor head coach Don Taylor said. "Tonight we had a chance to ensure that we'd finish in the top four in our league and host a home match in the first round of the tournament, but other than a few positions, we reverted back to having a lot of unforced errors and not closing out matches. We can't do that against a good team, and Indiana Wesleyan is a good team."

"Some highlights are that Juan continues to play well, our doubles team of Juan and Alex [Jung] had a great match, and Salvador had an excellent match. Now we are in the mix with a couple of other teams to see who will get the third and fourth seed for the tournament."

Taylor (5-6, 5-3 CL) will finish its regular season by hosting two non-conference matches. The first match is set for Thursday, September 29 at 4 pm (ET) against Cedarville University. The final regular season contest will be played against Anderson University on Saturday, October 1 at 10 am (ET).
