LOUISVILLE – The seventh-ranked Taylor University women's cross country team went toe to toe with teams from all levels from around the Midwest and ended third in the 42-team Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning. Seventh-year head coach Quinn White also surpassed 500 wins with the performance.


The Trojans ran a total team time of 95:39 and scored 184 points in the meet to trail No. 14 Shawnee State by 15 points and 37 seconds for first among all NAIA squads. NCAA Division II Grand Valley State scored the overall team crown with a time of 94:26 and 121 points.


Mae Elizabeth Gimre led the Trojans for the second-straight race, turning in her best mark and the seventh-fastest individual time in Taylor program history with a finish of 18:32.17. Gimre took 12th overall and was followed by Rachel Blagg in 32nd (19:03.64), Michelle Franch in 36th (19:09.13) and Taylor Bluemel in 45th (19:23.92) inside the top-50.


Taylor's top-seven was rounded out by Hannah Schroder in 59th, Naomi Noyes in 70th and Margie Crosby in 105th. Seven of TU's top-eight and nine of its top-11 finishers were freshmen or sophomores.


In addition to Gimre's personal-best time, Taylor also saw Noyes, Maddie Weeden and Haley Heath log the best individual times of their young careers.


No. 7 Taylor (58-4) will race again on Friday, October 7, when it competes at the Bethel Invite.
