MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Matt Hall set a new course record en route to his second win of the season, and No. 14 Taylor ran its fastest team time since 1999 while finishing second in a loaded field at the Bethel Invite on Friday evening.
The Trojans logged a team time of 129:33 to finish 17 seconds and a single point shy of No. 5 Marian for the team crown. TU finished ahead of No. 11 Indiana Tech, No. 12 Aquinas and No. 22 Bethel in the team standings.
Hall was dominant once again, crossing the line at 25:05 to win the race by 13 seconds, while Joseph Beamish took third place with a personal-best time of 25:37. The performance marked the second-straight personal-best effort from Beamish, while Hall paced the Trojans for the fourth time this season with his fourth top-five showing in as many races.
The duo of Hall and Beamish was followed by Tanner Dye in 15th with a mark of 26:01, Jonathan Taylor in 27th at 26:23, Stephen Cho in 28th at 26:26, Hunter Smith in 30th with a mark of 26:27 and Benjamin Byrd in 44th at 26:54.
Five of TU's top-seven runners logged the fastest times of their collegiate careers, with Beamish, Dye, Taylor, Smith and Byrd setting new personal-bests to help Taylor run a full minute faster than at the same course one year ago.
No. 14 Taylor (57-6) will compete at the Great Lakes Invite in Grand Rapids on October 22, before running for the Crossroads League Championship on November 5.
