INDIANAPOLIS – Senior men's tennis player Juan Ramirez has been named to the All-Crossroads League team, announced by the league office Monday. This is the second consecutive year Ramirez has been selected for All-Conference honors.
Competing at the top of the lineup in both singles and doubles play, Ramirez helped lead the Trojans to a 5-3 record in the Crossroads League and a No. 4 seed in the league tournament. Taylor defeated Grace College in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals and finished with an overall record of 6-7.
Ramirez, from Ibarra, Ecuador, went 9-6 overall at No.1 singles and 5-3 from the No. 1 spot in the Crossroads League. At No. 1 doubles, alongside teammate Alex Jung, Ramirez finished 8-8 overall and 4-4 against Crossroads League opponents.
Ramirez was seeded 10th out of 64 players in the ITA Regional Championships in September. He defeated Mason Wenzel from Lawrence Tech (6-3, 6-0) and Davenport's Mike Digby (6-1, 5-7, 10-4), before falling to UNOH's Iustin Baciu in the round of 16.
The All-Crossroads League team consists of 13 players, with the Coach of the Year being awarded to Marian University's Steve Mackell.
