INDIANAPOLIS – The Crossroads League announced its players-of-the-week award winners on Tuesday, and TU's Lauren Engelkes was named the league's women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The award is the third for Engelkes this season.
Engelkes was stellar in the goal last week, recording two shutouts in 200 minutes between the posts for the 16th-ranked Trojans. The sophomore notched eight saves in a double-overtime shutout of Huntington and pitched a three-save shutout in a 1-0 overtime win over Saint Francis. The win over Saint Francis set a program-record for most wins in a single season and secured the two-seed in the Crossroads League Tournament for TU.
Engelkes ranks 19th in the NAIA and 2nd in the Crossroads League in Goals Against Average (0.62) this season.
Next up for No. 16 Taylor (14-1-1, 7-1-1 CL) is the Crossroads League Quarterfinals, where the Trojans will host Saint Francis (7-9-2, 3-5-1 CL) at 5:00 pm on Saturday inside Turner Stadium.
