GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Taylor volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the Boneyard Brawl at Georgetown College on Friday.
The Trojans (18-12) fell in an early two games to none deficit in the day's opening match with Campbellsville before the Trojans rallied to win the third set 25-18. Taylor couldn't maintain the momentum in the fourth set though as the Tigers pulled away for a 25-18 victory to take the match in four sets.
Senior Kelly Arnold reached the 1,000-kill milestone for her career on Friday night as the Marietta, Ga., native entered the day with 996 career kills and registered 18 kills against Campbellsville. Junior Becca Gerig also reached double figures with ten terminations while Kayla Springer added seven and Addy Bailey and Rachel Bouma finished with six each.
TU faced off with 9th-ranked Lourdes in the evening match and the Gray Wolves proved too strong for Taylor as Lourdes secured a sweep (25-12, 25-21, 25-21).
Arnold led the charge for TU once again with ten kills while Springer added seven. Harrell finished with 24 assists and Reel led the way with 19 digs.
Taylor will continue the weekend on Saturday with more stiff competition as the Trojans face 8th-ranked Georgetown at 10:00 am followed by Columbia State at 1:00 pm.
