FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds from Kendall Bradbury, the Taylor women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, 87-78, at Indiana Tech on Thursday night.
TU shot the ball with great efficiency, knocking down 46.4 percent of its shots, but allowed the Warriors to convert on 54.7 percent of their shots on the other end of the floor. The Trojans were also outscored 25-12 in points off turnovers and 14-4 in bench points.
The Trojans dug themselves a 14-2 hole in the first 4:31 of the game and could not overcome the sluggish start. TU shot 1-of-4 and turned the ball over four times during Indiana Tech's opening run.
Following the opening run by the hosts, TU outscored the Warriors 76-73 the rest of the way, but it was not enough to pull off the comeback victory.
After trailing by double-figures for the majority of the game, the Trojans cut the deficit to eight with 2:38 remaining after a three-pointer by Josie Cobb, but the Warriors halted the comeback bid by making 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch.
In addition to Brabury's performance, Cassidy Wyse produced 16 points, three boards, three assists, two steals and a block for TU. Cobb chipped in 13 points, including three triples, while Lacey Garrett contributed seven points and a career-high six assists.
RV Taylor (1-1) will return to Paul Patterson Court at Odle Arena on Wednesday, November 9, to take on the Mustangs of Marygrove (1-1) at 7:00 pm.
