CoSIDA Volleyball Academic All-District Teams | TU Honors Page

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor volleyball players Rachel Bouma and Haley Harrell have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.


The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field or court of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have reached sophomore status academically with one full year at the current institution of enrollment and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.


Bouma, a junior outside hitter for the Trojans, earned Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native carries a 3.98 GPA as a business management major and leads Taylor with a .264 hitting percentage during the 2016 season. A First-Team All-Crossroads League selection last season, Bouma has played in all 32 of Taylor's matches this season, amassing 200 kills.


Harrell also earned Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. The starting setter for Taylor all season, Harrell leads the Crossroads League with 1,103 assists this season. A junior from Plymouth, Indiana, Harrell carries a 3.93 GPA as a business marketing major and has been named the Crossroads League Setter of the Week on six occasions this season.


Bouma and Harrell will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA All-America team, which will be announced on November 17.
