UPLAND, Ind. – Sophomore Haley Harrell was named the Crossroads League Setter of the Year and Alex Reel, Kelly Arnold, and Becca Gerig also earned all-league honors when the post-season awards were released on Monday afternoon.
Harrell became the first Trojan to win setter of the year honors since Betsy Brown earned the distinction in 2010. The sophomore from Plymouth, Indiana led the Crossroads League with 1,179 assists (9.7 per set) during the 2016 season and earned Crossroads League Setter of the Week honors on six occasions. Along with being the Setter of the Year, Harrell also earned a spot on the All-Crossroads League First Team.
Harrell was joined on the All-Crossroads League first time by Taylor seniors Alex Reel and Kelly Arnold. Reel finished the 2016 campaign ranked second in the Crossroads League with 651 digs and was also second in the league with 38 service aces. A native of Noblesville, Indiana, Reel was All-Crossroads League honorable mention in 2015.
Arnold also carved out a spot on the All-Crossroads League First Team after leading Taylor with 399 kills. Arnold's 3.9 kills per set ranked second in the Crossroads League in 2016 as the Marietta, Georgia native finished the season with a .211 attack percentage.
Junior Becca Gerig was named the All-Crossroads League Second Team following a 2016 campaign the saw the Archbold, Ohio native amass 386 kills and a .202 attack percentage. This is the second straight season Gerig has earned All-Crossroads League Second Team honors.
Taylor's Kayla Springer was named to the All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention list.
