AUSTIN, Texas – Taylor University's Brandon Haan and Hans Lundberg have been named as CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America performers, as recently announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.
The prestigious 24-member list was voted on and selected by CoSIDA, recognizing the finest student-athletes from around the nation at NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. A total of 19 institutions were represented on the list, with Taylor, Dakota Wesleyan, Morningside and Saint Francis being the lone programs to have more than one student-athlete receive the award.
Haan and Lundberg were among a group of seven individuals from the list to repeat as CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America standouts. Haan also made the list in 2014 and Lundberg joined exclusive company as a three-time First-Team Academic All-America selection with nods in the past three years.
Haan will graduate with a degree in management and marketing and currently possesses a cumulative grade-point average of 3.74. The senior punter from Grand Rapids, Michigan completed his career with a punting average of 39.1 yards.
Lundberg will earn a degree in exercise science from Taylor and boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.93. The senior tight end from Houston, Minnesota closed his outstanding career with the Trojans with 18 touchdown receptions and 1,001 yards receiving.
Haan and Lundberg move Taylor's total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America honors to five this year, with Lundberg becoming the first three-time CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American in TU's football program history.
Taylor now boasts 61 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in school history, with 29 student-athletes claiming First-Team honors. TU football now has 14 of those Academic All-America awards and 12 First-Team nods.
