UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – Kendall Bradbury tied a season-high with 32 points and the TU women's basketball team used a 36-10 run to turn a 17-point, third-quarter deficit into a 75-66 victory at Governors State on Tuesday.
The Jaguars (3-9) enjoyed a hot start to the game, making 15 of their first 20 shots en route to building up a 42-33 halftime lead on Taylor. Governors State maintained its hold on the lead early in the second half and even threatened to put the game away early by taking a 56-39 lead with 4:43 left in the third quarter. TU was able to cut the deficit to 12 going into the final stanza, as GSU led 61-49 after 30 minutes of play.
In the fourth quarter, Governors State and Taylor traded buckets to make the score 63-51, but then the Trojans rattled off 12-straight points, including a 9-0 run by Bradbury alone, to take a three-point lead with 3:18 left in the quarter. The Jaguars recorded a free throw and a jumper on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 66 point apiece, but, once again, TU had an answer. The Trojans proceeded to score the final nine points of the contest to seal the comeback triumph.
Bradbury added 10 boards to her 32 points to lead the Trojans and notch her fifth double-double of the season, while Cassidy Wyse tallied 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Trojans (7-7) will have 10 days off before returning to the hardwood at Paul Patterson Court for the Taylor Christmas Classic on December 30 and 31. TU will open the Classic against Holy Cross (4-9) at 6:00 pm on Friday, the 30th.
