GOSHEN, Ind. – Powered by four double-figure scorers, the Taylor women's basketball team outscored Goshen 61-30 over the final three quarters to spoil GC's senior day celebration with a 72-55 victory on Saturday.

 

In the first quarter, Goshen built up a commanding 25-11 lead over the Trojans on the strength of 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) shooting from the field.

 

Taylor responded with resilience in the second quarter, going on a 17-to-zero scoring run over a six-minute span to pull within one point of the Maple Leafs in the final minute of the period. GC led 33-30 at the break.

 

TU continued its strong play in the second half, as the Trojans took a 38-37 lead on a three-pointer by Josie Cobb with 8:02 to go in the third quarter. Taylor ended the stanza with a 10-to-zero run to own a 50-47 edge after three quarters of play.

 

A nine-to-two spurt to begin the final quarter gave the Trojans a 59-49 advantage with just under seven minutes left to play. TU continued to extend the lead, as the scoreboard showed 66-51 in favor of Taylor with 3:32 remaining. Aubrey Wright's hoop-and-harm provided the exclamation point for the Trojans, as TU led 70-53 with 1:50 left, giving the sophomore a career-high 13 points on five-of-six shooting for the day and securing the 72-55 triumph for Taylor.

 

Goshen (13-15, 7-9 CL) followed up its 11-of-16 first-quarter shooting with 12-of-48 (25 percent) from the floor over the final three quarters, allowing the Trojans to pull away for the victory.

 

Kendall Bradbury led the Trojans with 29 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Cobb added 11 points and seven boards, Jamie Netzley produced a career-high 10 points on four-of-five shooting and Cassidy Wyse flirted with a triple-double, posting seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the victors.

 

Taylor (12-16, 7-9 CL) will be back in action on Wednesday, when the team travels to Huntington (13-14, 7-9 CL) to take on the Foresters at 7:00 pm.
