COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Taylor softball team endured its first sweep of the season on Saturday, falling twice, 7-2 and 3-1, at eighth-ranked Lindsey Wilson.
In the first outing, the Trojans knotted the score at 1-1 in the top-half of the third when Briley Spencer hit a solo home run, but the Blue Raiders (8-2) put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 7-2 win for the hosts.
Spencer led TU's attack with two hits, including the third-inning blast, while Anna Gunderson, Cassie Kuizin and Davis Carter recorded Taylor's other three hits in the game.
In game number two, Lindsey Wilson opened the scoring in the first inning, but TU put up a run in the second stanza to tie the game at 1 run apiece. LW tacked on two more runs to score the 3-1 win and earn a sweep over the Trojans.
Up next for Taylor (5-4) is four contests at Indiana Southeast against Lindenwood (3-5) and IUS (0-2) on Friday and Saturday, with the first tilt on Friday scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.
