JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Taylor men's 4x800-meter relay and distance medley relay teams both represented TU on the track at the opening day of the NAIA Indoor National Championships on Thursday.
The TU men's distance medley relay team of Tanner Dye, Benjamin Byrd, Sam Lacher, and Kyle Shelton narrowly missed advancing to Saturday's DMR finals by finishing in ninth place in the semifinals with a mark of 10:17.14. The time was the fastest time of the season for the Taylor team by more than three seconds and featured standout individual performances in each leg of the race. The Trojans finished three seconds out of the eighth and final finals qualifying spot.
Taylor's young 4x800-meter relay team, which features two freshmen in Nathan Fill and Hunter Smith, sophomore Seth Harden, and junior Wes Noyes posted a time of 8:18.82 to finish in 26th place in Thursday's semifinals of the event.
The NAIA Indoor National Championships continue on Friday with TU senior Harry Dantona leading off day two of the championships in the weight throw at 12:00 pm.
