NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The TU softball team split its doubleheader on Saturday, winning the second contest, 6-4, over Indiana Southeast after falling to Lindenwood-Belleville, 7-2, in the first game of the day.

In the opener against Lindenwood, Taylor trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but Briley Spencer's two-run blast in the second inning gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead.

Lindenwood would hold TU scoreless the rest of the way, while adding six runs to take the 7-2 win for the Lynx. Eight Trojans recorded a hit in the loss.

In Taylor's second tilt, Indiana Southeast (1-7) opened the scoring with a run in the fourth inning to break the scoreless tie and take a 1-0 lead.

The Trojans responded with six unanswered runs in the fifth and seventh innings combined, jumping out to a 6-1 lead with a half inning left to play.

Alex Lovelace singled and came around to score for TU's first run of the contest in the top of the fifth and Courtney Moriarty drove in Cassie Kuizin for the second run of the inning.

In the seventh frame, Moriarty's single scored Lovelace to extend Taylor's lead to 3-1. Justice Carmichael's double brought home Lauren Ehle and Erin Cozad before a single by Gunderson plated Carmichael for a 6-1 TU lead.

The Grenadiers put up three runs in the home-half of the seventh, including two with two outs, but Taylor recorded the final out to secure the 6-4 victory.

Carmichael, Kuizin and Lovelace each registered two hits apiece, while Moriarty led the attack with a 3-for-4 outing. Hannah Robbins (1-2) went the distance in the circle for TU, striking out eight hitters in the win.

The Trojans (6-7) will take a few days off before hosting Asbury (1-5) for a doubleheader on Friday at 4:00 pm and Michigan-Dearborn (11-4) for another two-game set on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Gudakunst Field.
