INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Taylor's Maddie Thomas carded a round of 7-over par 79 to lead the Taylor women's golf team on day one of the Broadmoor Invitational hosted by Marian at Broadmoor Country Club on Monday.
Taylor tallied a team score of 340 in Monday's opening round with Thomas's 79 followed by sophomore Raquel Helton's 85, senior Brittany Pfaff's 87, and sophomore Elizabeth Jackson's 89. Junior Grace Elenbaas added a 91 as Taylor's drop score while freshmen Annie Stimmel (94) and Lauren Murphy (96) competed as individuals.
Taylor is tied for fourth place with St. Xavier (Ill.) while Cardinal Stritch leads at 326 followed by No. 19 Marian at 330 and No. 25 Lindsey Wilson at 335.
Thomas, who finished tied for fifth in the Trojans' first tournament of the spring, enters Tuesday's final round in a tie for fifth place, three shots behind the pace set by Lindsey Wilson's Courtney Vincent.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 am.
