FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team carded a team score of 334 to climb into fourth place in the first round of the Saint Francis Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Maddie Thomas paced the Trojans with a 9-over par 81 on the challenging par-72 layout of Cherry Hill Golf Club. Sophomore Raquel Helton added an 83 followed by junior Grace Elenbaas with an 84 while sophomore Elizabeth Jackson and senior Brittany Pfaff added a pair of 86's. Freshman Annie Stimmel played as an individual and carded the lowest round for TU with an 8-over par 80.
The Trojans are in fourth place in the 11-team field with No. 21 Northwestern Ohio leading the field at 318 followed by No. 14 Indiana Tech at 320 and Olivet Nazarene at 325. The Trojans lead Crossroads League foes Saint Francis (342), Grace (343), Indiana Wesleyan (346), Spring Arbor (364), and Mount Vernon (367).
The final round is scheduled for Saturday with a 10:30 shotgun start slated at Cobblestone Golf Club in Kendallville, Indiana.
