MARION, Ind. – The Taylor men's golf team won five of eight singles matches during Saturday's final round of the Grant County Cup to secure a 7.5 to 4.5 victory over rival Indiaan Wesleyan.
Taylor's senior trio of Mitch Lamping, Trey Turner, and Nick Waskom led the way for Taylor with three victories on Saturday. Lamping dominated his match with IWU's Ryan Cahill en route to a 5&3 victory while Turner and Waskom both tallied 1-up wins.
Junior All-American Alec Dutkowski continued his stellar play with a 4&3 victory over IWU's Braydon Schindler while sophomore Scottie Marston was awarded a point due to an injury suffered by an IWU player.
Indiana Wesleyan tallied three victories on the day with Brent Smith defeating TU freshman Keegan White while IWU's Cameron Luczka collected a 2-up victory over Taylor's Jeremy Ray and IWU's Nick Schad added a 3&2 victory over TU's Nate Morris.
Taylor entered the second day with a 2.5 to 1.5 lead and added five points on Saturday en route to the win.
The Trojans will be in action again on Sept. 11-12 when TU travels to Milwaukee for the Wolfpack Invitational at Brown Deer Golf Club.
