UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor will open its 2017 season under the lights at Turner Stadium when it hosts NCAA Division II Malone University for a 6:00 pm start on Saturday.

SEASON OPENER: Taylor's 70th season on the gridiron will open on Saturday with its 16th all-time meeting against Malone. The Trojans are 29-37-3 all-time in their openers, including an 8-1 mark under 10th-year head coach Ron Korfmacher.

SCOUTING TAYLOR: The Trojans boast an experienced 82-man roster for the 2017 campaign, returning 59 players, 22 seniors and 17 starters. The squad is highlighted by returning All-MSFA performers, Everett Pollard, Daniel Boy and Logan Ball on offense and Jeremy Ramirez, Cameron Gray and Dovi Gamble on the defensive side of the ball.

SCOUTING MALONE: The Pioneers are 2-0 in season openers against Taylor with wins in 2016 and 1995 but have dropped each of their past five road openers overall. MU is paced by two-time all-league running back, Matt Blasiole, who has averaged 101.3 yards per game over the past two years and boasts 2,101 career rushing yards and 19 scores on the ground.

LAST MEETING: Taylor erased a 16-point deficit to force overtime, before falling by a 39-33 score at Malone one year ago. MU's Blasiole stole the show with 178 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards and two scores.

SERIES HISTORY: Taylor trails Malone, 8-7, in the all-time series between the two programs on the gridiron. Malone won last year's meeting in overtime to snap a three-game win streak by the Trojans between the two. Taylor has won three-of-five meetings with Malone under 10th-year head coach Ron Korfmacher and is 1-1 under Korfmacher in Upland.

KORFMACHER NEARING MILESTONE WIN: Taylor's head coach, Ron Korfmacher, enters the 2017 season just three victories shy of matching TU Hall of Famer, Bob Davenport, for the most head coaching victories in program history. Davenport piled up 48 wins from 1957 through 1968 with the Trojans.
