MARION, Ind. – Freshman Nicole Jung carded the low round of the day to lead the Taylor women's golf team to the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the Indiana Wesleyan Fall Invitational on Friday.


Jung, a native of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, toured the 5,835-yard, par-72 layout of Arbor Trace Golf Course in 73 shots to lead three Trojans inside the top four individual spots. TU sophomore Maddie Thomas carded a 76 to sit in third place while junior Elizabeth Jackson is in fourth place at 77.


Junior Raquel Helton and freshman Taylor French are tied for tenth place after rounds of 80 as the Trojans tallied a team score of 306, the second lowest team score in program history.


Taylor leads the 12-team field at 306 followed by No. 14 Northwestern Ohio (313) and Indiana Wesleyan (318).


Playing as individuals, sophomore Annie Stimmel added a round of 84, senior Grace Elenbaas carded a 90 and sophomore Alexis Harris added a 93.


The final round of the IWU Invitational will take place on Saturday morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 9:00 am.
